Hi,

Yeast infection is a common vaginal infection that can be seen in women. The possible causes of your present yeast infection are that with increasing age the local protective mechanisms at external genitalia like acidic pH will decrease which can lead to growth and development of infectious organisms.

General conditions like diabetes, decreased immunity levels, etc., provoke the development of infections. Steps that can help you are:
- Check your general investigations like hemoglobin levels, blood sugar levels, etc.
- If needed go for investigations like urine microscopy, culture and sensitivity, vaginal swab for culture and sensitivity and plan treatment accordingly.
- Both the partners should be treated simultaneously to prevent cross infections.
- Using a vaginal wash with acidic pH can help in maintaining the healthy local vaginal flora and decrease the possibility of infections.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
