What Causes Yellow Fluid Secretion From The Incision Site Of Perianal Abscess?
Hi, I was diagnosed with a peri anal absyss on the 4th of November. The doctor then operated and did an I & D. the wound took about six weeks to heal. last week just after a bath i scratched the wound and there was some blood that came out. Ever since i have noticed that there is a sticky light yellow secrection that comes out from that area. If this puss or is it serum? Another question is, should i take anitbiotics to reduce this secretion? how long will it take for this scratch to dry up?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Discharge from incision site of perianal abscess may be due to reinfection or fecal impaction in that area which lead to inflammation or exudate formation, etcetera.
Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Take soft diet, do sitz bath daily. If symptoms does not improve then please consult your doctor who will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
