What Chemicals Are There In Pot Which Triggers Intense Feelings?
I spoked pot 6 years ago and it triggered intense anxiety/depression. I was not a consistant smoker I only did it maybe three times max. I know that I have anxiety, but this was something I felt I could not control. I gained control over it all after an ending of a long-term relationship. I smoked pot again 1 month ago and the same feelings arised. Most of the anxiety has subsided, but the depression still continues with fear that I will loose myself again like I did before. What chemicals are in pot that can trigger such intense feelings and make them continue for weeks after? Even if it triggered something that I am already prone to (anxiety/depression) I was able to control it before and now it seems out of my hands.
THe main chemical that produces a high/euphoria/hallucinations is tetrahydrocannibinol (THC). It is not there for weeks unless one has been a very heavy smoker for a very long time. BUT, changes in mentation / thinking / mental stability can occur after marijuana and persist after the drug is gone. So.. .THC is a leading candidate for the initial changes in the brain, but they can stay long after the drug is gone.
