What Cough Sore Throat,severe Coughing With Heartburn Suggest?

Hi, I'm on medicine for a simple sore throat (the doctor didn't check for anything else, just made sure i didn't have strep and sent me on my way.). i went to the doctor yesterday. today i woke up coughing and as soon as i finished the coughing fit, i had a pain in my lower jaw, both sides.i would rate it as a 6 or a 7. i was unable to speak and coughing made it hurt a lot worse. i ended up just pressing my face into the pillow and falling asleep again. now that i'm awake, the pain is gone, but comes back momentarily each time i cough. i'm also experiencing severe heartburn and nausea, which i'm taking tums for. and one last thing: i have full-body aches. i tried to tell my doctor this as i was in the room with her, but she was in a hurry and wasn't really listening. i have no idea what could be wrong with me.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain there is a possibility that heartburn along with sore throat and coughing can be due to Gastroesophageal reflux disease commonly known as Acid reflux..
As sore throat and heart burn are classical features of acid reflux..
I would suggest you to consult a Gastroenterologist and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and also advise you investigations like Upper G.I Endoscopy to rule out the exact cause of the symptoms and treat you accordingly..
In case of acid reflux he can advise you to take Proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole, antacid like calcium carbonate, take small frequent meals, do moderate workout, avoid spicy and acidic foods, drink plenty of water and sleep atleast 2 hours after meals..
Sleep with head slightly raised as compared to feet and recline in left lateral position..
