What Could A Recurring, Non-itchy, Rosy-red Lump On My Lip Be?
Hi, I have a lump on my lip that comes and goes. Usually when it comes it only last for about a few hours then leaves. It can take a few days to weeks for it to show up again. What is this? It has no puss and it doesn t itch. It just stays there. The area looks a little swelled and its more rosey/red.
Such lumps are commonly caused by infections, allergic reactions, and injuries. Take care of your oral hygiene and avoid taking food that triggers the lump to recur. Avoid applying lipstick or any other makeup on lips. You can apply herbal lip balm. Wash your mouth & lips properly after eating.
Infection with the herpes simplex virus (HSV) is a common cause that may cause such symptom. Get tested for STD especially for HSV. If the report is positive, you will be treated for HSV. Lumps or bumps on lips due to allergy are treated with non-sedative antihistamine. Mucoceles also manifest as painless lump on the lip. Mucoceles resolve on their own.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
