What Could Be A Lump At The Junction Of Head And Neck In A One Year Old Child?

My one year old has always put her hand on the back of her neck I always thought it was weird but then thought it was just part of who she was.
Then tonight I was feeling the back of her neck like where her head and neck meet almost , and there is a lump there. What is that ? Could it be a lymph node ? Swollen ? Do they ever hurt / uncomfortable ? What else could it be ? Freaking myself out

You have not mentioned size and consistency of lump. Is it bony hard or rubbery. Lump of lymph node is like pea nut size. If it is stone like that it can be a bone part. Is it hurting, or child cries when you touch that lump. If it is increasing in size than you can show her to a paediatric surgeon.
