What Could Be Cause Of Itchy Bumps Emerging In Humid Summers? How To Treat Them?
Hi! I live in the Northeastern part of PA and we get humid summers here and every time the humidity kicks up, I get what look like mosquito bites on my arms and legs....very itchy...seem to get worse as well as spread when I scratch them ....any ideas as to what these bumps may be?
It seems that you may be having summer prurigo, also called actinic prurigo.Actinic prurigo is an intensely itchy skin condition caused by an abnormal reaction to sunlight (photosensitivity). It presents with small, intensely itchy papules (prurigo) on sun-exposed sites. In severe and long-standing cases, skin covered by clothing (e.g. buttocks) may also be affected and because of this the role of sunlight may not be so obvious.Actinic prurigo is sometimes called ‘Hutchinson prurigo’. You consult dermatologist for firm diagnosis. Emmolient or mild steroid cream might improve the disease. Antihistaminic like levocetirizine, steroid in tappering doses or hydroxychloroquin might be helpful in curing the disease. Prevention of prurigo may be done by avoiding sun exposure. I hope you got my answer,
Thanks.
