What Could Be Causing Light Brown And Light Pink Spit In The Morning ?
Hi, I ve been waking up lately with light blood color in my spit first thing in the morning. I ve had allergy symptoms like itchy throat and ears and runny nose etc. I also have bleeding gums when I brush my teeth or floss. What could be causing the light brown and light pink spit in the morning ?
Thanks for your query. The most common reason for light brown and light pink spit in the morning is nicotine which comes from smoking and tobacco chewing. Both active and passive smoking can cause brown saliva.Other cause for brown saliva are acid reflux at night , certain types of illicit drugs like blood thinners and anticoagulant medications , pulmonary embolism or other lung disease .I would suggest you to quit smoking or chewing tobacco (if you are doing). Consult chest for proper examination , who may order x-ray along with other test . Doctor may also refer you to dentist for dental infection . For now maintain proper oral hygiene and do warm saline rinses thrice a day .
