What Could Be Causing Pain And Swelling In The Heels And Lower Legs?

My heel is in a great deal of pain when I walk & stretch it out. I naturally thought it was my plantars facitis, but my foot into my ankle & lower leg is swollen. What could this be? My heart doctor told me a year or so ago i had veinous reflux. Could this be that?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It could be due to a condition known as plantar fasciitis. As of now you can take analgesics like ibuprofen or diclofenac for pain. If you are obese, you have to lose extra weight as obesity can worsen the symptoms. If the pain persist, better to consult an orthopaedic and get evaluated, steroid injections may be required in severe cases.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
