What Could Be Causing Severe Pain In The Arms While Suffering From A Cervical Degenerative Disc?
I have degenerative disk in my neck. For the last month or more i have been having extreme pain in my shoulders and down my arms. i cannot get comfortable laying down and wake up during the night with severe pain in my arms. its in the upper are area and sometmes it radiates all the way down my arms. Can you tell me what could be causing this?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Your symptoms are suggestive of cervical disc prolapse at C4-5 causing pressure on one of the nerves, and pain in distribution of that nerve. I suggest pain killers, muscle relaxants and a combination of Pregabalin and Methycobalamine. Physiotherapy would be of great help. The diagnosis is by MRI and nerve conduction velocity tests.
Thanks.
