What Could Be Causing Trouble Taking Deep Breaths And Sleep Only When Propped Up While Having Hypertension, And Sleep Apnea?

Hi, I just spoke with my husband and he says he is having trouble taking deep breaths, he is unable to breathe while laying down. He now has to sleep propped up with pillows. He is 71, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, double vaxxed, over weight, non smoker, sudden onset.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

As per symptom described by you your husband is having fluid accumulation in lungs. Ask him to reduce salt intake, sleep with head end of bed raised or pillows or blankets to raise waist above. He needs diuretic for blood pressure.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder, General & Family Physician
