What Could Be Causing Variation In Bp?

I had checked my blood pressure yesterday late evening at work and it read as 140 over 100. The nurse had asked me to check it over a period of a week and now on the second day (fasting) I had a reading of 128 over 96. I would be continuing the test for a week to see how the readings go, but surprising because when I took a test on my electronic reader at home about a month and half back, it came back as only 117 over 78. Can you please advice can there be such variations. I am 31 years of age.

Thanks for contacting HCM. Dear patient these variations are quite normal. Our blood pressure has normal variations called diurnal variations. Also your initial reading of 140/100 and next day reading of 128/96 is not much different as when you were checked first time probably you had white coat hypertension where in anticipation and apprehension the systolic blood pressure rises. The electronic blood pressure monitors can not be relied upon to hive accurate readings. So just relax and take treatment as per your doctor's advice. Regards
