What Could Be The Cause For Swollen Tonsils And Sore Throat?

I am 14 year old girl and I have had a mild sore throat for about 3 days now. The first day I had a very mild sore throat which then got a little stronger the next day. But on the second day I noticed that my left tonsil had deflated and there was a saggy pouch left in its place, the right tonsil was normal size. I casually thought nothing about it thinking that it would be back to normal by the next day but the next day(today)the soreness has reduced but the tonsil is still deflated! I have always had extremely large tonsils and I have never had tonsillitis. What is wrong with my tonsil, is it bad, should I go to the doctors? Please help!

ENT Specialist 's  Response
hello and welcome to health care magic,

You seem to have an episode of tonsillitis and though you may not had such a severe episode before, there is always the first time. It is also apparent that the tonsils would have got suppurated or pus filled which is why it is sagging the way you mentioned.
In any case though it is nothing to worry about it is still advisable to get an ENT consult as soon as possible so that a proper treatment could be initiated

get well soon

regards
