What Could Be The Cause Of Sore On Lips?

I have a sore on my lip that has clear liquid in it. I drained it but it fills back up. It is painful and unsightly. I have never experienced this before and have been with the same boyfriend for over five months. I also don t share drinks or food with any one. What could this be and how can I treat it?

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I would like to rule out a possibility of Herpes Labialis; this is the first possibility that crops up in my mind for a new lip sore.
Herpes is usually acquired by close/intimate contact like kissing. Sharing drinks and food is not much of a risk.
I would suggest that you visit a dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis. If indeed it turns out to be herpes, the only way you could have got it from, is kissing an infected partner.
Herpetic sores is not always a recent infection, it can remain clinically silent for months or years. It could be a past infection that is showing up now.

Regards
