What Could Be The Lump On My Son's Jaw Line Indicate?

The other day while smooching my six year old son, I felt a small lump on his left jaw line. I asked him if he hurt himself or banged into something. Although this wasn't the case, I felt around for further inspection; the lump can be moved slightly. He said it hurt when I touched it. But I can't be certain it did hurt as he hasn't brought it up before. What do you think it is?

Hi,
This is likely to be a lymph node. These are small glands that can swell when there is inflammation in the area. Although your son may not feel ill, it is common for these to be palpable in children and they can be slightly tender to touch.
It is nothing to worry about and is likely to reduce in size over the next few days.
