What Could Be The Pain And Knot In The Shin After Getting Hit?

Three weeks ago a metal rail hit my shins (both legs same spot). They are both painful, red and swollen & have a knot at the point of impact, however the right leg is worse and now it hurts to walk on it and the swelling has spread to my right ankle. My mom was hit in the same spot (we were standing next to each other), however after a little bruise her legs are fine. What could this be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to the injury. I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Naproxen to relieve the pain.

I also suggest using cold compresses and a light bandage to treat the inflammation.

The symptoms should go away on it own. Meanwhile, I suggest to return and avoid activities that can trigger the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
