I have a raised itchy red welt on my neck. I usually get smaller pimples and welts on my back but this one seems out of sorts. Is it eczema or an allergic reaction? My mom has eczema. Or is it an insect bite from like a bed bug? I had bed bugs over the summer but was cleared. What could it be?
See a raised itchy lesion over your neck can be anything like eczema or an insect bite or it can be an infective skin lesion. If it is a chronic itchy skin lesion, then it is more likely to be eczematous in nature and you need to be treated with topical steroids. If it is an oozing and painful skin lesion which is red and tender in nature, then it is most likely infective and topical antibiotics are required to treat it. A sudden appearing painful or itchy skin lesion goes in favour of an insect bite.
