What Could Be The Reason Behind Darker Shade Of Skin Around Vagina?

hi..iam 23 years old female and i have darker skin around my vaginal area and around my butt as compared to my body complexion.i am' a virgin and i feel embarassed wearing a bikini...kindly tell me how to lighten the skin around these areas as i am about to get married soon.

Hello young lady,

I can understand your concern for darker shade of skin around vagina.

It is common fact that our skin color is decided genetically. In persons with Asiatic origin it is quite often seen that the area around genital and other body folds is quite dark as compared to the rest of skin.

In such a cases certain groin area lightening cream are to be used. A most important factor is the safety of the cream. As the genital are has very soft skin so the creams should be most safe to apply.

In my patients I suggest them to apply a cream containing kojic acid with arbutin as one of the safest cream. I suggest you to meet a dermatologist and get a proper prescription if the creams.

The dark colour around genitals is generally due to episodes of fungal infection and wetness around it. If it itches a lot then be sure that its nothing but fungal infection. The things you can try are 1) Keep the area dry, 2) Frequent change of undergarments to maintain hygiene and dryness. 3) Change the type of clothe of your undergarments as many a times the skin is little sensitive to a particular type of cloth like cotton , or jeans etc which causes excessive pigmentation.4) Use Antifugal powder having Cotrimoxazole as its ingredient
