What Could Be The Reason For A Dark Bruise Above The Hip Bone?
I noticed a dark bruise just above my left hip bone a couple weeks ago and don't remember how I did it. Since then it has gone away but my left side has been feeling very sensitive since I noticed the bruise....every once and awhile i'll get a small pain but mostly it just feels sensitive and uncomfortable.....almost a burning sensation at times. Sitting in my computer chair is the most uncomfortable. I've also noticed my chest bone/sternum to be very sensitive at times....almost like it was inflamed and makes it difficult to take in a deep breath. Any suggestions would be appreciated? Thank you

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. The symptoms you have are suggestive of an inflammation of the pubic symphysis. It can be due to a chronic friction or a sudden jerk in the recent past. A decrease in vitamin D 3 levels can also cause such a pain. The pain is likely to subside on taking mild pain killers and doing a hot fomentation in the area. You can also apply a local analgesic gel too help with the symptoms. In case the pain is sharp and persistent then do consult an orthopedician for a physical examination and oral muscle relaxants. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
