Hi there
You most likely have a condition called patellofemoral pain syndrome.
It is due to the patella is not tracking properly on the trochlea(part of thigh bone femur).
This can be due to a variety of causes such as hip flexor muscle weakness, tight IT band etc.
A program of Physical therapy can usually solve this.
If pain persists, see your sports medicine ortho surgeon for further work up.
An easy home exercise program is here http://nycsportsmed.com/knee-foot-and-ankle.html
Also do start taking hidh dose calcium ( 1 gm ) daily along with vitamin D 3 supplementation.
Good luck.
