What Could Be The Reason For Experiencing A Sweating Episode After Eating A Bowl Of Soup?

My dad - who is 87 just experienced a sweating episode after eating a bowl of soup. He layed down and feels fine now. Says he has no appetite and feels it was related to his stomach as he sat down to eat. Could this be from low blood sugar or something more serious

Hi
A complaint of sweating after meals is quite common. There is an entity called 'gustatory sweating' wherein a person starts sweating on forehead, neck area while eating food.
This is a known occurring as the secretion of saliva from the parotid gland in the mouth, is occurring at the same time as the secretion of sweat from the glands in the skin of face and neck.
This is often also called as Frey's Syndrome. However, such incidents are also known to occur in some medical conditions like a herpes infection of the skin or diabetes mellitus.
Given that your father is 87 years old, i suggest that a check on the blood sugar levels should be kept. If not recurring or causing much disturbance, this problem should be considered harmless.

Hope this answers your query. Happy to help for further questions if any.
