What Could Be The Reason For Feeling Like Butterflies In My Stomach?

Hi there, I am waking up every morning with butterflies in my stomach that are leading to nausea, and there is no chance of pregnancy. I do have a history of complex PTSD and BPD, and have acute anxiety, but I am worried about damage to my kidneys because of all the medication I have been given. I occassionaly take Clonazapen for the anxiety bouts but it is not working at this time and I feel very sick.

Hi,

All your symptoms may be due to complex PTSD (Of course, BPD, is usually an accompaniment of PSTD). These patients generally have severe disorientation of moods and attitude, severe impairment of controlling impulses, physical symptoms like headache, fatigue, body aches, insomnia, emotional insecurity as well as believing in an imaginary, meaningless or negative aspect of life and impaired self consciousness.

Anxiety may be just one of the symptoms and Clonazepam alone will not solve your problem. Patients having complex PTSD, usually have flashbacks and nightmares with insomnia and hence difficulty in over-riding the thoughts of trauma. Treatment of PTSD is always to be done under supervision of a psychiatrist and it is usually long term. Treatment of PTSD usually is by multiple therapeutic sessions for a long time. It usually is aided by anxiolytics or/and anti-depressive drugs for symptoms of anxiety, depression, fear, panic attacks and insomnia.

Multiple targeted therapy usually involves psychological counselling, psychotherapy usually by CBT as well as behavior modification techniques. Continuous follow up with repeated evaluations of symptoms and therapeutic needs of patient will be required to be monitored, with involvement of psychological health worker, social health worker and behavior modification program technician.

Involvement in social, religious or spiritual activities / groups always make it easy for the transformation of patient for a normal healthy life. Thoughts of kidney damage and being very sick, also seem to be negative thoughts, which are part and parcels of this disease.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
