What Could Be The Reason For Fluctuating Blood Pressure?

Hi! My blood pressure has been fluctuating recently 144/82 177/90 what should I do. I go to the gym religiously 5 days a week use the treadmill for 30-40 mins. The bike for 15-20 mins and use different weights for 40 mins. Have a healthy diet. No red meat. Salt or greasy foods and no dairy products. Please help.

Dear patient,

thanks for your query. Blood pressure variation is the norm, actually the physiologic norm, for healthy human beings. It is subject to so many influences from the nerves, hormones secreted at different times of the day, etc, that it changes quite frequently.


Usually what we recommend, is to take your blood pressure in the morning or in the evening, after 5 minutes of complete rest; normal is less than 140/90. If after writing a log with 15 or 20 readings, more than 50% are higher than 140/90, then it would have to be looked into further to rule out hypertension.
