What Could Be The Reason For Having A Bitter Taste In My Mouth And Constipation?

Hi. I have a bitter taste in my mouth. A few days ago, I engaged in a work out I haven't done for months and my whole body, especially my abdomen have been in pain. For the past 4 days I've been having nusea, I feel the urge to vomit but nothing comes out unless I force myself to. I've lost my appetite to eat and I've been constipating a lot.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your complain you have problem of abdominal pain and constipation problem. Lack of fiber and water intake in diet cause constipation problem. Less gastric motility also cause constipation problem. Intestinal obstruction may ruled out.

Do a diet and lifestyle modifications like:

- Take more high fiber foods like whole grains and oats etc.

- More water per day.
- Avoid gaseous foods like cabbage, cauliflower, carbonated drinks etc.
- Bowel habit training is helpful. Bull forming agent like psyllium is helpful to you.

Stool softner can use for constipation problem. After taking this much care still symptoms are present than consult a gastroenterologist for further diagnosis. Abdominal barium x ray helpful in diagnosis. Colonoscopy can done for further diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rachana Goswami
