What Could Be The Reason For Having Intense Itching On The Inside Of My Thighs, Buttocks, Arms And Waistline?

I have intense itching on the inside of my thighs, buttocks and waistline. sometimes it is also on arms. this has been going on for some time for me and i had some ideas of what it could be. but they were non-communicable. now my boyfriend has recently started experiencing the same itching. sometimes there are welts and bruises but sometimes the itch has no outward manifestation. what contagious condition could this be? p.s. i've seen no evidence of insects.

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

I would keep a possibility of scabies which is caused by a mite named Sarcoptes scabie. It is communicable to close contacts.

I would advice my patients of scabies a single whole body application of 5% permethrin cream (whole body below face after a scrub bath) and leave it overnight for at least 8 hours.

Just a single application is enough and it is advisable to treat all the family members/close contacts empirically.

An oral antihistamine like cetrizine once daily would help you with the itching part.

Wash all the clothings, linen etc.
