What Could Be The Reason For Having Itching And Redness On Rectum And No Bowel Movements?

Hi,
To be short.............My rectum has been very itchy for over 2 months, including redness. It will not go away no matter if it is not agitated. I am not sure about the anatomy of the anus but I feel like I have noticed my anus has a thick hard ring all the way around on the inside about .5" thick. I get sharp pains from time to time. Also I have not has a stool for 3 days. My maternal grandmother had colon cancer and my paternal uncle had it too.

Hi,

The hard ring all the way around on the inside the anus might be related to hemorroids. You are saying to get itchy rectum and has not passed the stool for three days.

This means that you suffer from constipation which has lead to hemorrhoids, which gives you itching feeling.

I suggest to consult GI specialist to:

- do colonoscopy
- perform examination of stool for ova/parasites
- take otc hemorrhoids cream for 1 week
- drink more water
- take otc sena supplements and lactulose
- avoid straining too much
- go to the bathroom each time you feel the need; do not delay
- take proper hygiene of your anus and vagina
- eat foods high in fiber (fruits, vegetables); can take fiber supplements too
