What Could Be The Reason For Having Light Headedness And No Strength?

woke up last night quite suddenly, I was thirsty, got up and went for a glass of water, and suddenly I was light headed and had no strength. I had to lie on the floor for several minutes. I began to sweat profusely and needed to go to the bathroom, Crawled to the bathroom and was able to do the function. Then I was able to stand and go back to bed. I could not sleep for 2 hours. I am 70 and in good health and do not take any medications. What happened?

Hi,
You possibly had an episode of orthostatic hypotension. This causes low blood pressure and dizziness when you move from lying to standing too suddenly. It is relatively common in your age group.
It is not serious, needs no treatment unless it is frequent. In which case you would need investigations to identify the cause.
I suggest you rise more slowly if you get out if bed at night and it may not happen again.
Regards,
Dr K A Pottinger
