What Could Be The Reason For Having Mushy And Foul Smelling Bowel Movements?

two year old has mushy, non-formed, foul smelling bowel movements. Some days as many as 3-7 times and then he may go for a couple of days with nothing. He has been tested for parasites and the more severe diseases. All are negative. Some weight loss. Any ideas?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
Foul smelling stools are usually due to Amoebiasis or giardiasis.
Indigestion may also give rise to stools with some odor.
It is not possible to detect parasites in stools always.
Better try metronidazole in consultation with your doctor.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Please feel free to ask any more queries if required
Take care
