What Could Be The Reason For Having Painful And Itchy Red Spot On Tip Of Nose?
I have a painful and itchy red spot on the tip of my nose. It feels like it's inside the cartilage of my nose. It reoccurs about once or twice a year and doesn't go away for weeks. Does it have something to do with allergies or just my nose? I feel the need to constantly rub my nose but that makes it worse!
I am Dr Sriram nathan, an ENT surgeon and I will try to help you out with your problem.
It seems to me that you have developed an acute infection of the skin area of your nose which we call the vestibule. This happens when you constantly rub the area and is treatable though very painful.
You must do these: 1. Hot fomentation over the area 2. No head bath for the next one week 3. Local antibiotic ointment like tbact 4. Antibiotic medication like the amox-clav along with pain killers like levocetrizine in consultation with your doctor. 5. Injectable medications if the symptom are very severe
Once the infection is controlled then you must meet an ENT surgeon for the proper and permanent cure for your sinus problem and your allergies as the main cause of this is constant rubbing due to irritation.
You must also keep your blood sugar levels under check regards
