What Could Be The Reason For Having Red, Swollen And Itchy Toes?

I have a number of toes that are red and swollen and itchy at times. They always feel like the have an elastic band tied extremely tight around them. I have had this for a week and a half approx. My doctor is unavailable. I am afraid that this is getting worse not better. Do you have any suggestions of what could be happening. I am 28 year old female.

Hi,

It could be perniosis which is an allergic reaction to cold. I would recommend you to apply topical steroid and antibiotic like cortisone cream and fusidic acid cream on the affected areas twice daily and take antihistaminic like tablet chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg once daily for 7-10 days. This should improve your condition.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
