What Could Be The Reason For Having Redness And Swelling In Vagina?
my five year old daughter has a been touching and playing with her vagina lately... Not saying its wrong but I just bathed her and her vagina is red and swollen mostly by the labia minora and I took her recently(three days ago) to the docter and she has no urinary tract infection. Also she goes to the bathroom alot. I dont know if this is from wiping alot but please help.
It is normal for young children to explore their bodies and in the process of doing so sometimes they can infect or irritate the delicate vaginal area .Excessive overenthusiastic wiping can also irritate the vaginal skin .
Wash her only with plain water , do not use soap /dettol etc for cleaning genitals .Ensure she wears organic cotton /cotton underwear ,ensure that she at least takes 2-3 glasses of water in a day (this does not include other fluids that she is taking like milk, juice etc ).Ensure that her nails are clipped and she washes her hands regularly .
Vaginal irritation can be lead to frequent urge for urination .Once you ensure that the child is taking enough water you should be able to see improvement . Sometimes worm infestations also lead to similar symptoms so see to it that is dewormed after getting a routine stool and urine examination done .
