What Could Be The Reason For The Pain In Hands, Toes, Ankles And Legs In An Insulin Resistant Diabetic And Bipolar Patient?

My husband is 60 and has severe debilitating pain in his hands, toes, ankles, knees, hips and legs. This has been getting worse for about a year now and doctors can't diagnosis. ANA is increasing over the last several test results but no pattern detected. Norco has not helped. He is an insulin resistant diabetic and has bipolar.

I would really suggest you go for an NCV of the affected limbs. to me it sounds something like a radiculopathy as well as a neuropathy. I think an NCV will help us know where we stand. the other causes of radiculoathy should also be tested including vit b12 and tsh (for thyroid).

assuming that i am wrong in my thinking, i would also suggest him to get his vitamin D and bone scan also.

he is a doabetic and i am sure/hopeful that he is regularly tested for his diabetes related tests, like cbc, kft etc

meanwhile meet a local dr for starting gabapentin or pregabalin
