What Could Be The Red Bumps On Ankle Which Have Holes In Center?

My daughter has 3 red bumps on her ankle. One has a white head on it like a pimple but it isn't. The other 2 are red and look like they have a small hole in the center. They don't hurt to touch but they do if I squeeze or pinch them. What could this be?

Hi,

I can understand your concern for the red bumps on ankle which have holes in center.

It appears form your query that your daughter has developed infection in the area with inflammation at the affected region. This area is quite common to get infected very easily because of sweating and high bacterial proliferation.

For time being period you can apply antibiotic cream such as fucidin or mupirocin and take pain killer tablets such diclofenac or paracetamol.

Do not try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem and spread of the infection.

If it is increasing despite the treatment then meet a dermatologist or any family physician and get a proper treatment without delay for the oral antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin or cefadroxyl 500 mg two times a day for 5 days to prevent secondary infection.

Take care.
