Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Vaginal discharge normally should be odorless. But the consistency could vary depending on the time of the menstrual cycle. Foul smelling discharge indicates infection.
It is important to check if you have any of the following associated signs and symptoms. Pain in the pelvic area, itching in the pubic area, sores in the genital area.
The type of discharge could give an indication of the infecting organism. If it is thick, white and curdy then it could indicate a
fungal infection. If grey, thin, watery and has a fishy odor it could be a condition called
bacterial vaginosis. Treatment varies depending on these factors and it is important that you be examined by a gynecologist before starting specific treatment.
Meanwhile you can follow these general measures to maintain good personal hygiene. Clean the pubic area daily with mild soap. Use a condom during sexual intercourse till your problem is resolved. Powders and fragrant sprays are best avoided and it is better to wear cotton underclothes.
Also it is advisable for your husband to be also tested.
I hope I have helped you. Hope you get well soon.
Regards
