What Could Blood Clots Found In Second Trimester Ultrasound Indicate?
Hi, I am taking clexane 40mg a day and I am 17 week pregnant and I had an ultrasound and blood clot of 14x24 cm was found. I have no bleeding at all. I want to mention that I lost twins last year when they found a blood clot at earlier week 11 and I bleeder, then I lost the twins at 24 week.
Hi, I have gone through your question. Clexane is low molecular weight heparin and is known to decrease the coagulation ability of the blood. Hence, some patients taking it develop clots or bleeding from nose, vagina etc.If it is necessary for you to take clexane for your medical condition, then I would suggest you to take progesterone support in the form of capsules and injections to support your pregnancy. Moreover, do consult your OBGYN specialist to get your Anti Xa levels done so that the dose of clexane can be reduced if required. The clot needs to be monitored on serial ultrasounds. I would like to reassure you that small clots usually resolve with advancing pregnancy, but you need to be in constant follow up of your doctor. Hope this answers your question. Wishing you good health.
