General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. Bloody stools with cramping in pregnancy may arise due to infection of intestines ( bacterial/ amebic),. But a single episode of cramps with bleeding may come from pregnancy- as you guess. Though mostly,in early pregnancy there is no weight gain, but other signs of pregnancy like nausea, vomiting, capricious appetite, heaviness in lower abdomen are seen.To clear the doubt in your mind- - consult an obstetrician for detailed examination. This may be followed by investigations like USG lower abdomen./ blood HCG test. Thanks.
