What Could Bump On Penis Head Suggest?

I noticed a small bump on the head of my boyfriends penis about a week ago, he never noticed it before then. Since then, he had been applying cream to it and last night I noticed it has grown in size and now looks scabbed over. He claims its painless and non itchy and never bothered him before now. What could this be?
