What Could Cause A Delayed Period?

I took postinor2 after sex the same day. I took the 2 tablets and now my period is a week and 2days late. Please am I pregnant or is there something wrong with me.and just finished a 5day dose of ciprofloxacin. Pls what is the problem. I hve not seen my period

Hello,
Since you have taken the emergency contraception soon after the intercourse, you are amply protected. It is true that antibiotics used in conjunction with hormone contraceptives can reduce the efficacy of the hormones. Yet, if you had the pill prior to the use of the antibiotic, you need not worry. Since the emergency pill contains excess hormone, it is common for the natural period to get delayed by a week or two. Please see a specialist for further evaluation if you remain late for your period even after ten days. Hope this helps.
