What Could Cause A Swollen Stomach For An Aged Person?
Hi My stomach swells anywhere from 9.30 am but usually in the evening for the past 6 months. Bowel motions ok no constipation, little diarrhea. I have had clear colonoscopy.. benign pollops removed and divaticular disease diagnoses with a call back of 5 years. I also have haemacromatosis. I have pain in left side around waist and backache that goes to hips. I have a clear back xray, clear ultrasound. Bloating subsides by the morning without major farting or burping. Help .. it looks like I have swallowed a basketball or am 6 months pregnant.. I am 54 and have a mirena so have no idea if I have gone through menopause....
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. Due to change in commensal bacteria and high fiber diet, increased gas production is occurring. 2. This gas is causing distension. As it collects mostly in the left colon, you feel the pain around the left waist. 3. You will need to take probiotics. Also avoid insoluble fiber and take more soluble fiber from vegetables and fruits. 4. Moderate exercises are also necessary. Also watch your diet, for any specific food eg: milk products etc., which could cause increased gas formation. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
