Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Could Cause A Thumping Heartbeat Sound In The Head Of A Cardiac Patient Apart From Heaviness In The Arms And Back Pain?
I took my mom to the er on Wednesday night for a thumping or heartbeat sound in her head , she is a cardiac patient . They said she was developing a ear infection , gave her a antibiotic and sent her home . She still hears the thumping , and she says her arms feel heavy and she has back pain
Her symptoms could be related to a possible stroke or migraine. For this reason, I recommend going to the ER again for a physical exam, complete blood count, a brain CT scan and a Doppler ultrasound of the carotid arteries.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
