What Could Cause Appetite Loss?

My grandmother won t eat solid foods she is 97years old and the only thing i can get her to eat is broth from soup and ensure. What can i do? she says she is full after 1 bite of solid food or is sick to her stomach. I feel like she doesn t want to go to the bathroom so she just quit eating.

In such cases and in this age, she simply must do gastroscopy to verify is there stomach cancer. This is the worst scenario but should be ruled out first. Everything else can be treated by dietary changes and antiacid medications. She should eat liquid food and chew it well before swallowing. Also, she should take probiotics and more vegetables. If there is rapid wieght loss, she should have Ensure supplements.
