I cleaned my daughters ear and then it started bleeding. Its not a lot of blood but when i wipe it it still comes out a little. I dont know if i scratched it or if its the eardrum. Do I need to take her to the er? also she is on antibiotics currently for strep throat
You should know that even a small wound either in the ear canal or drum can cause so much bleeding. This is the reason why we should not put anything in the ear and try to clean. Even an ear bud can do this. Since she is already on antibiotics then all you need to do is make sure she completes the course and also do not give head bath for the next one week and do not put any ear drops. The aim is to keep the canal dry. It does not matter if the drum or canal is injured, the treatment is the same. Anyway do not worry as the recovery in either case is excellent.
At the end of a week if she complains of ear block then you must get an otoscopic examination of the ear done with an ENT surgeon
