What Could Cause Bleeding Post Sex During Pregnancy?

Last night while having sex with my husband I felt a splatter literally on me. We stopped right away and I looked at the sheets and it had a small puddle on it. I went to the bathroom and there was drops of blood not a ton but there was blood. There was no blood on the bed just clear liquid. I've been to the restroom several times and it is just blood tinged about every other time I go but not everytime. This is baby number 3 and I've never had anything like this ever happen. I'm 21 weeks and 2 days pregnant. Any idea what could have happened? Thanks

Hello,
Your symptoms and the history suggest that the membranes may have leaked or sometimes, as it happens during pregnancy, urine may have escaped due to pressure. Yet, the occurrence of blood is a cause for concern and cannot be ignored. You should see your consultant right away for a clinical evaluation, an abdominal sonogram to look for fetal well-being and the amount of liquor. A urinalysis may be performed to exclude any infection. Please take bed rest and abstain from further intercourse until deemed possible. Hope this helps.
