What Could Cause Bloody Throat Discharge And Sore Throat ?

I contracted a head cold 16 days ago but it was very unusual as I didn t have a sore throat, then a runny nose followed by the usual congestion. Unusual in that I had runny nose (clear fluid) first, then stuffy feeling then congestion and a sore throat. Not a bad sore throat, just a dry scratchy throat and now I have finally begun to expel thick and sometime bloody nodules from my throat. Every time I think the last Louie has come up and out another day of nagging mild sore throat appears and more Louies . Sinus infection???

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have bloody throat discharge and sore throat well these symptoms are due to sinusitis and upper respiratory tract infection. Sometimes bleeding tonsils can also cause such symptoms. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles 2-3 times a day. You should take steam inhalation twice a day. Take paracetamol for fever and headache. Consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxiclav at least for 10 days along with decongestant. Maintain proper hygiene. Drink plenty of water and liquids. Take tepid sponging if it is severe headache.Doctor may order test like swab test , blood test , and viral culture test to rule out condition like acid reflux and strep throat. Maintain proper hygiene and drink plenty of fluids.
