What Could Cause Bruised Upper Arm Devoid Of Any Injury?
MY MALE FRIEND WHO IS 55 YEARS OLD WENT TO A GOLF TOUR ABROAD FOR 5 DAYS. HE CAME BACK HOME WITH HIS UPPER ARM ALL BRUISED. NOTHING HIT HIM ON HIS ARM BUT 90% OF HIS UPPER ARM IS BLACK AND BLUE. HE REFUSES TO SEE A DOCTOR AND SAID HE WOULD JUST APPLY AN OINTMENT. WHAT COULD BE THE POSSIBLE CAUSES OF THE BRUISING?

Hello, Thanks for your query.
If your friend is pretty sure that he hasn't injured his arm I can think of Spontaneous bruising. Thinner people are more prone to bruising as they lack the fat cushion that helps prevent injury. It may also be due to deficiency of vitamin C, vitamin B12, folic acid and vitamin K. Many times taking medications like aspirin, ibuprofen, non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs increases chances of sudden bruising. Topical and systemic corticosteroids cause skin thinning, making one prone to bruises. Many a time bruising can be caused due to liver ailments, kidney diseases and blood disorder.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
