What Could Cause Constant Itching In The Ear That Goes Away After A Popping Sound While Using A Q-tip?
my husband has had issues with his inner ear for years, it constantly itches and he says he feels something hard inside his ear that is relieved from using a q-tip, ive told him many times that is isnt good to put anything inside his ear but its the only relief he has. when hes using a q-tip and says the itching goes away after hearing and feeling a loud pop and ive heard it as well. could it be a cyst on his ear drum?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your query you have symptoms of tinnitus which can be caused by many factors like rupturing eardrum, stress, inner ear infection, wax accumulation and could be due to fluctuation in the blood pressure. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order certain test like audiometry, CT scan, low and high pitched ringing to rule out conditions like hearing loss. Doctor may remove wax and prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory medications to subside infection. For now do mind relaxing exercises like meditation. Yoga and meditation can be very helpful.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
