What Could Cause Constipation And Severe Urination Difficulty In A Toddler?

Our male toddler is bouncing and says he can t urniate and begins to cry. He has had constinpation issues for a few weeks and is on one teaspoon of Miralax per day. He s overly tired right now too. I am wondering if a visit to the emergency room is in order. Is it common for 21/2 year old boys to expire ice such symptoms?

Hi
The common reasons for such urinary difficulties are urinary tract infection, constipation or narrowing of foreskin.
Your boy can still be constipated despite opening bowels daily as only lower end of large bowel can empty itself and upper end still loaded. Hence you could try increasing the dose of Miralax till bowels are loose/soft.
If foreskin is ballooning or baby is crying during urination then it is sure a narrow foreskin and it might need to be sorted out sooner.
If urine is cloudy then urinary tract infection is a possibility and you might have to visit ER.
