Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 30 and 34 weeks pregnant. I am overweight and have constipation. For the last 2 weeks I have been eating alot of salsa and 2 days ago I had a slightly painful bowel movement and noticed bright red streaks in it. No blood on toilet paper or in the water. Yesterday was the same thing as well as today. The streaks appearred a slightly darker red but not much, Could it be salsa?
You are in term pregnancy and you have mild blood streaks in the stools.
Do not worry.
Pressure on rectum will be more on term pregnancy and sometimes it will lead to haemorrhoids (piles,) during pregnancy.
It is a self limiting condition which will normalise after pregnancy.Till then use lot of fibre in diet and under personal guidance of a doctor have stool softener.
After pregnancy and feeding reduce weight and go for pelvic strengthening exercises.
Take care Madam.
All the best for a safe labour!
