Hi, I appreciate your concern. First it is important to know the source of bleed. Either it is from gut( called haemetemesis) or from respiratory tract( called haemoptysis). In case he is having cough with blood in sputum , then it is haemoptysis. In that case he requires evaluation in form of blood analysis,Chest X Ray , Sputum analysis for AFB , malignant cells etc.In case no cause is found and haemoptysis persist then he may require broncoscopy or CT Chest with angiography. Second possibility is GIT source of bleed, which presents with nausea , vomiting , black coloured stools etc. It requires evaluation like UGI endoscopy ,Liver function analysis etc. Since your father is having history of stomach ulcer , it is the most likely cause of bleed. In that case he requires repeat UGI Endoscopy and in case there is active bleed from ulcer , then he might require treatment. Hope it helps
