My doctor suspects that I have diverticulitis since a few years ago I had a bad case - had to have part of my small intestine removed. The symptoms are definitely there - abdominal pain (not too severe), diarrhea. He put me on Flagyl and Cipro. In the last two days I noticed my urine being very dark and my lower back hurts as well. Could this be related to diverticulitis, or could I have a UTI rather than diverticulitis? I m on day number 7 of 10 with the antibiotics. Any suspicions or suggestions? Thank you much.
Dear- thanks for using our service.Dark urine could be from urinary tract infection and occult blood in the urine, also concentrated urine can be dark.If you have any obstruction in the biliary system, the bile can not be eliminated by the liver and it goes to the kidneys to be eliminated there. That turns the urine in dark however, the stools become light. In diverticulitis, the abdominal pain is mostly left lower quadrant but that does not change the color of the urine.Your symptoms could be uti and kidney stone .It is important to have urine analysis with culture to make sure .The bacteria could be resistant to cipro. Please hit thanks if I was helpful Dr.JC
